18/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 15 September the European Central Bank (ECB) published its revised version of its general document on the Eurosystem's instruments and procedures for monetary policy. This document amends the ECB/2006/12 orientation and will be applicable from 7 January. Modifications essentially involve the introduction of non-negotiable assets in the Eurosystem's guarantees system, which represents the final stage in the gradual introduction of a single mechanism for eligible guarantees for all of the Eurosystem's credit operations. The single list includes two categories of assets, negotiable and non-negotiable assets. Eligibility criteria and an assessment mechanism of specific credit for non-negotiable assets have been defined with the aim of ensuring that they respect the same standards of guarantees for negotiable assets.
