Brussels, 20/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - The annual conference of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), organised in Cannes as part of the Cannes Festival of 17-28 May will discuss the increasing problem of piracy in the audio-visual sector, following the development of new technologies. The 20th Annual Conference On International Audi-visual Law, Film Distribution, New Technology and Piracy will explore the “new challenge the film industry faces in an increasingly digitalised world”, indicated a press statement. Participants at the conference organised by the International Bar Association and the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers, include Dan Glickman, president of Motion Picture Associations of America, who asserts that: “piracy is a problem that knows no geographical boundaries, no language barriers and no cultural differences. It impacts not only the American film industry, but filmmakers in France, China, Russia and virtually every country where the art of film flourishes”. He stated that he hoped that, “attendees will come away with a clearer picture of this problem and what we as a global film community can do to combat it”.
