Brussels, 20/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - The annual exercise Volcanex, coordinated by the European Air Group in which seven air forces take part (UK, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Belgium), will take place from 15 to 26 May. A Deployment Operating Base as well as a Deployable Combined Air Operations Centre will be set up in Sardinia, while the Vouziers base, in France, will host the multinational protection force. Exercise Volcanex 2006 will be composed of: - a multinational fighter task force conducting Combined Air Operations; - a multinational CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue and evacuation of pilots from hostile territory) task force, as well as three aircraft (French, Italian and British) for in-flight refuelling. The air defence group aims to enhance the effectiveness and the interoperability of the different air forces of which it is composed. (Source: our publication Atlantic News).
