Brussels, 20/04/2006 (Agence Europe) - In the context of dialogue on the future of Europe following the French and Dutch “no” votes on the European constitution, the European Parliament's Constitutional Affairs Committee chaired by German Social Democrat Jo Leinen is organising on 24-25 April in Brussels, a European Civil Society Forum. Representatives from several civil society organisations will be invited to debate priority themes identified by the European Parliament in the Duff-Voggenhuber Resolution adopted last January, notably the final aim of the European integration process and the EU role on the world scene, explained a press statement (for resolution see EUROPE 9113).
The European Parliament will also be organising a first ever Inter-parliamentary Forum on 8-9 May in view of the up and coming European Council on 15-16 June, which is expected to draw initial conclusions from the debate on the future of Europe.
