EU opens membership talks with Turkey

During the night of 3 to 4 October 2005, the European Union opened accession talks with Turkey in Luxembourg (see EUROPE 9040 and 9041 on how the EU Council in Luxembourg unfolded). The declaration issued on this occasion by the EU Council Presidency, the negotiations framework agreed for Turkey, procedures foreseen for negotiations and a preliminary list of the main chapters to be negotiated are published in our EUROPE/Documents series (in English only).
