Brussels, 01/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - The EU ministerial troika, headed by Council President Jean Asselborn, is to meet US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Washington on 2 June. Their discussions will focus on the Middle East (in particular the situation in Lebanon and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process), Iran and Iraq, Russia, East Asia, India, Pakistan and Sudan. Subjects covered will also be the preparation of the next EU/US Summit in Washington on 20 June, as well as the international conference in support of Iraq, which is to be held on 22 June in Washington, and which will be co-chaired by Europeans and Americans. On the European side, EU High Representative for CFSP Javier Solana and External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner will attend the meeting.
