Commission proposes 154 million EUR over 7 years to fight pollution caused by ships

Brussels, 26/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Maritime Safety Agency is to receive an envelope of 154 million EUR under the financial perspectives 2007-2013, in order to help the Member States step up their actions against pollution from hydrocarbons and other pollutants, by making specialised anti-pollution vessels available to them and developing satellite imaging to detect pollution in time and to prevent illegal emissions. “It is vital for Europe to have a system to fight...
