26/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the Parliament adopted a legislative resolution by Astrid Lulling (EPP-ED Luxembourg) on the Council's common position concerning the regulation on the establishment, for each institutional sector, of quarterly European non-financial accounts. The resolution stresses the need to strengthen the European system of quarterly statistics mainly for analysing the behaviour of economic agents (households, companies). The Council's common position delays by several months the implementation of the regulation proposed by the Commission and provides for a transitional period allowing Member States to conform to the 90-day time limit for data transmission.
