Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is “key element in safety of EU energy supply”, said Andris Piebalgs

Brussels, 26/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - Taking part in the inauguration ceremony for the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in Azerbaijan, Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs stressed the importance of this project to boost the security of energy supply in the EU and on the international markets. “The provision of 50 million extra tonnes of oil every year to the world markets is a considerable volume of supply, especially against the backdrop of record oil prices reaching 50 dollars a barrel”,...
