EU expected to decide on strict controls on USA maize exports to EU for deliveries certified as Bt10-free

Brussels, 13/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - A new development in the genetically modified Bt10 maize case. The product, produced by the Swiss Syngenta company and sold “inadvertently” to the USA, has illegally entered the EU after being confused with its Bt11 cousin, which is authorised in the EU. Rather than suspend the gluten maize flour exports temporarily (EUROPE 8926), the EU is preparing to impose tougher controls on US exports to the EU. This will last as long as Syngenta fails to...
