EP hopes to promote short sea shipping within EU

Brussels, 13/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - By an overwhelming majority on Tuesday, the European Parliament called for short sea shipping to be promoted more within Community territory. In its adoption of the report by French Socialist Robert Navarro, it is proposing to cut red tape and the customs procedures involved, which are a hindrance to the development of short sea shipping, and give priority to investment in infrastructure to improve access to ports.
