13/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 11 December the European Commission adopted a proposal to amend during the year, herring fishing possibilities in the Baltic Sea. In light of a recent recommendation by the International Commission for Fishing in the Baltic Sea (CIPM, regional organisation responsible), this will involve increasing from 61 200 to 71 200 tonnes (t) the total allowable catch (TAC) between Finland (58 374 t) and Sweden (12 826 t) in the areas concerned.
