Al-Manar may broadcast on European network as long as it respects TVSF directive, says Commission

Brussels, 24/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has stated that the television channel Al-Manar, which is said to be close to the Lebanese Shi'ite Hezbollah, is free to broadcast its programmes within Europe, as long as it observes the rules of the "Television Without Borders" directive, particularly article 22, which requires that these programmes "contain no incitement to hatred on the grounds of race, sex religion or nationality".
