Member States divided about post-2007 continuation of public aid for modernising fishing boats

Brussels, 23/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - Similarly to the 2002 negotiations on Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), Member States displayed divisions on Tuesday in Brussels as to whether they should continue public aid for modernising the fleet after 2007. The Agriculture Fisheries Council is expected to pursue the European Commission's proposal in 2005 on the new "European fishing fund" for 2007-13.
