Jaap de Hoop Scheffer deplores low rate of Kosovo Serb turnout for elections on Saturday

Brussels, 25/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - Monday's meeting of the North Atlantic Council (NAC) and the EU Political and Security Committee (COPS) was devoted to the situation in the Balkans. Commenting on Saturday's elections in Kosovo, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer deplored the low turnout by Kosovar Serbs. Although voting unfolded in a "good atmosphere …we are disappointed by the unexpectedly low turnout by Serbs in Kosovo", he said. The NATO secretary-general nonetheless...
