Commission mobilises to prevent spread of avian flu via illegal imports of Asian birds

Brussels, 25/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is supporting efforts by the Belgian authorities to identify all passengers who flew on 17-18 October in the same flights as the Thai passenger taken in for questioning and then to hospital in Belgium for having illegally transported birds of prey suffering from avian flu from Bangkok to Brussels via Vienna.

In a press statement the Commission asked passengers from the Bangkok/Vienna EVA AIRWAYS BR 0061, which arrived in Vienna...
