ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) aquaculture

The Dutch and Norwegian food groups NUTRECO and STOLT-NIELSEN are to merge their fish products businesses in order to create the largest company worldwide in that sector. Called MARINE HARVEST, the new company will group all the farming and fish processing activities of both partners. Based in the Netherlands, it will employ over 6,000 and is expected to make an annual turnover of one billion euros. NUTRECO will hold 75% of the new company, and STOLT-NIELSEN 25%.
