American TIME WARNER has announced it is withdrawing its bid for MGM - METRO GOLDWYN MAYER in the face of over-bidding by the Japanese group SONY, which proposed $4.7 billion. TIME WARNER had made an offer of between $4.5 and 4.6 billion.
