High-level group on textiles and clothing to adopt recommendations on Wednesday on future of sector in EU

Brussels, 29/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - Ahead of the total dismantling of the WTO quota system on imports to textiles and clothing on 1 January 2005, the European Commission adopted a communication last 28 October on the future of the sector in the EU (see EUROPE of 29 October 2003). In it, it suggests several paths of action to improve the competitiveness of the textile and clothing sectors: stimulating innovation, stepping up training and initiatives at regional level.
