Brussels, 29/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - As expected, Portuguese prime minister José Manuel Durao Barroso, has been appointed as the new President of the European Commission (as from 1 November 2004). This was announced by the President of the European Council Bertie Ahern, with Manuel Durao Barroso and Javier Solana at his side, following the Special Summit convened by the Irish Presidency in Brussels in the evening of 29 June to find a successor to Romano Prodi (following the failed attempt...
