22/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union reaffirmed last week the EU's will to develop its partnership with the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe). It invited the EU Presidency to develop a report on the role of the EU within the OSCE. The report should envisage the next concrete stages for implementing the conclusions on EU-OSCE cooperation adopted in November 2003. It should also include a comparative analysis of the advantages of the OSCE compared to other regional organisations, mainly in order to avoid duplication. A Commission contribution is expected on this point. The Council also invited the Political and Security Committee to examine at least once every six-months the priorities for EU-OSCE cooperation on the basis of analyses by the relevant working groups.
