Brussels, 11/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - Although the G8 came to an agreement on initiatives in favour of poor countries, mainly in the field of public health (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.15), it did not make a move to cancel the debt other than by proposing to extend the World Bank/IMF initiative by two years to lighten the debt of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC).
