GENERAL NEWS / (eu) ep/mep expenses/germany

06/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the Bild Zeitung indicated that 87 German MEPs (CDU, CSU and SPD) have adopted a statement that in the future, they will claim expenses based solely on the amount actually spent. The Vice-President of the Parliament, Ingo Friedrich (CSU) voiced his hopes that all MEPs will follow this lead. It is worth noting that the campaign to blacken MEPs was at its height in Germany, including on the pages of the Bild.
