France/United Kingdom: the United Kingdom has become the main foreign investor in France. British companies have invested almost EUR 6 ban in France in 2002, which corresponds to almost 31% of direct investment from abroad, ahead of Germany's 20%, Luxembourg's 15%, the USA's 9,7% and Japan's 5,9%. Currently around 1,800 British subsidiaries are based in France and more than 200,000 jobs have been created or preserved thanks to this investment.
