Stavros Dimas appeals for women's representation in new EP not to drop below current 30% threshold - all provisions on equality should be included in new Constitution

Brussels, 07/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - Meeting in Brussels on 3 April before the Irish Minister for Equal Opportunities, Willie O'Dea, the EP's Committee on Women's Rights and Equal Opportunities reiterated the importance of the presence of more women on the lists for June's European elections, gender equality to be enshrined in the Constitutional Treaty, and equal treatment of men and women in access to goods and services.
