Greens launch campaign with slogan "You decide!"

Brussels, 25/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 24 March, at the launch of their campaign for the forthcoming European elections, the Greens, headed by Secretary General of the European Federation of Green Parties, the Maltese Arnold Cassola, and the co-presidents of the Greens/EFA group of the European Parliament, the German Daniel Cohn-Bendit and the Italian Monica Frassoni, presented their slogan "You decide!". The objective is to encourage a "basic democracy", said Marcel Loko, who helped to design the poster for the electoral campaign, which will soon appear in twenty different countries.

"We want a strong Europe, with a strong Constitution, solid institutions, clear values and objectives" said Daniel Cohn-Bendit, stressing the Greens' desire to reach an early compromise on the European Constitution. The fight against GMOs and the pollution of the seas, promoting gender equality, world peace, are both objectives and battles the Greens have set themselves. Answering a journalist who asked why the Greens do not raise issues that affect the European population, such as terrorism, Daniel Cohn-Bendit said that it seemed to him "dangerous to play on people's fears".
