Brok underlines effort made by ten future members - Romania and Bulgaria will be treated according to their merits - Verheugen says Member States should have explained enlargement better

Strasbourg, 10/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday in plenary sitting, the European Parliament discussed the three reports on enlargement which gained unanimous support on 19 February from the Committee on Foreign Affairs. The reports were by Elmar Brok (CDU) on the state of preparedness of the ten acceding countries, that of British Conservative Geoffrey van Orden on Bulgaria, and that by British Liberal Emma Nicholson on Romania.
