Jean-Claude Juncker does not rule out being a contender for post of Commission president

Brussels, 01/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker said in Paris on Friday that he could well be a candidate for the presidency of the European Commission, if he is not re-elected at Luxembourg's general elections on 13 June. After a working luncheon with his French opposite number, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Mr Juncker, who had until then categorically denied wanting to run for Romano Prod's succession, told reporters that he was now pondering the matter.
