Mr Prodi feels Mr Fradkov's appointment as new Russian Prime Minister will "facilitate" relations with EU

Brussels, 01/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, welcomed the appointment of Mikhail Fradkov, currently Russia's ambassador to the EU in Brussels, as Russia's new Prime Minister. Immediately after his appointment by President Vladimir Putin, Mr Fradkov telephoned Mr Prodi on Monday to let him know personally.
