Brussels, 26/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has sent a letter of formal notice to all EU Member States, except Denmark, Germany and Spain, for failure to respect EU legislation on vessel traffic monitoring and information systems, a 2002 Directive adopted in the wake of the Erika accident. This is the first step of an infringement procedure against Member States which should have adopted the necessary legislation by 5 February 2004 at the latest.
