Brussels, 05/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission called on the Court of Justice of the EC to impose a fine on Italy of EUR 309,705 per day for failing to apply the Court of Justice ruling of 26 June 2001 correctly. The ruling concerns discrimination against former foreign language assistants, the "lettori", in several Italian universities (Milan, Pisa, La Sapienza in Rome, Palermo and the Naples eastern university institute).
