Mr Durao Barroso defends Mr Vitorino's bid to become President of the European Commission

Lisbon, 05/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - As anticipated, during a trip to Dublin on Wednesday, the Portuguese Prime Minister, José Manuel Durao Barroso, said that European Commissioner for Justice and Home Affairs Antonio Vitorino (despite being a Socialist and thus from the main opposition party) is "an excellent candidate" for the Presidency of the European Commission, and that he "would like to see him in the job".
