Ambassador Peter Balazs candidate for job as Hungarian Commissioner

Brussels, 03/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - Hungarian prime minister, Peter Medgyessy, announced that Hungary would be proposing Peter Balazs, its Ambassador to the EU since 2003 as European Commissioner. Balazs was also Secretary of State for European Integration. According to AFP in Budapest, the Hungarian minister of foreign affairs Laszlo Kovacs indicated that president Prodi had suggested that the Hungarian Commissioner be attached to the European Commissioner for structural funds.
