Brussels, 30/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Institute of The European Studies (IES) at the Free University of Brussels (ULB) is organising a symposium on 12 February on the "European Union in a globalised world" as part of its 40th anniversary. The symposium will be opened by ULB Rector Pierre de Maret, and IES president Françoise Thys-Clément will lead the first session which will include the following participants: Alan Milward (Oxford University), Daniel Cohen (University of Paris), Petros Mavroidis (University of Neufchatel), André Sapir (ULB). During the second session, chaired by Paul Magnette, Director of the IES, Helen Wallace from the European University Institute of Florence will be speaking, as well as Jo Shaw (University of Manchester), Jacek Saryusz-Wolski (Natolin college of Europe, Poland) and Mario Telo' (ULB).
