Brussels, 30/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - As well as the Ryanair case, the European Commission is expected to approve during its next weekly meeting on 3 February a joint initiative by Commissioners Busquin (research) and Liikanen (enterprise an information society) on actions to carry out in the area of security research for 2004-06. This initiative was declared, in substance, on Friday by the spokesman for the Commission, in response to a request by the European Spring Summit last year and aims to identify the objectives and determine the research levels and funding mechanisms in this area.
The College is then expected to approve a report on the state of the telecommunications sector (application of a new Community framework on telecommunications, development of mobile telephone technology etc.) for the European Council of 25-26 March.
The Commission will also receive on Tuesday, like on previous years, a delegation from the Court of Auditors.
