Brussels, 30/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - Some thirty countries of Asia and Latin America joined on Friday the numerous calls from throughout the world in favour of resuming multilateral talks on the Doha Development Agenda. A common declaration along these lines was to be finalised over the weekend by the Foreign Ministers of 32 countries that took part in the Forum for cooperation between South Asia and Latin America in Manilla, including Brazil, Argentina, China, Japan, Australia, South Korea, New Zealand and the ten ASEAN countries. A draft text stresses the need to continue as a matter of urgency to ensure that the result of the Doha Development round contributes to making the international trade system more just and equitable with benefits for all economies, mainly those of developing countries, via agricultural reform, improved market access for goods and services, clarification and improved trade disciplines.
