Ms de Palacio counts on compelling tour operators to inform their customers about airlines they use - most MEPs think agreement with USA on air passenger data tranfer does not provide sufficient guarantees

Brussels, 13/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - In a declaration on airline security a week after the Charm-el-Sheik accident, Loyola de Palacio, Commissioner of transport, announced on Monday evening at the European Parliament that she intended to compel tour operators to inform their customers about the airlines they use. She also appealed for a rapid adoption of her proposal on aircraft security from third countries that use Community airspace (this will have to be part of conciliation procedure)...
