Ahern does not rule out agreement under Irish Presidency - Fischer says Berlin does not want two-speed Europe, but there is still the risk

Berlin, 12/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - European Council President Bertie Ahern confirmed on Friday in Berlin, during the International Bertelsman Forum, that he had begun consultation with Member States to seek to break the deadlock over the European Constitution. Confident but cautious, the Irish Prime Minister did not rule out an agreement under Irish Presidency, though he could not guarantee it.
