Proposal reducing percentage of fallow land after heatwave expected to be adopted very soon

Brussels, 18/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - During Monday's Agricultural Council the European Commission presented a proposal to reduced the amount of land compulsorily left fallow from 10%-5% of the total for cereal production over the 2004-05 period (farmers will be able to benefit from this measure between 15 January and 31 August 2004). Most Ministers welcomed this proposal (EUROPE 13 November 2003 p 9) and are committed to adopting it during the Council on 16 December. In this context, the...
