Experts of Member States suggest cutting back on funding for external actions to finance aid to Iraq - pressure grows on heading for administrative spending

Brussels, 07/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - EU Member State experts responsible for preparing the meeting of the Ecofin Council (in budget formation) on 24 November on the draft 2004 budget suggest at this stage in the procedure to reduce allocations by the European Parliament for external EU actions (during the first reading in October) in order to be able to finance aid to reconstruction in Iraq without having to use the flexibility instrument.
