Commission's decision in "Van den Bergh Foods" upheld

Luxembourg, 24/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the Court of First Instance of the EU notes that it has upheld the European Commission's decision of 1998 against Van den Bergh Foods, formerly HB Ice Cream, a 100%-owned subsidiary of the Unilever group and Ireland's biggest ice-cream maker.

The supply of freezers "free of charge" by Van den Bergh Foods to retailers of ice-cream on the condition that they use them exclusively to store its products is against Community law,...
