23/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The President of the Confederation of German Industry (BDI), Michaele Rogowski held talks with the President of Ecofin, Giulio Tremonti on 22 October in Berlin. Mr Rogowski pointed out in a press statement on the growth initiative ratified by the European Council of Brussels that enlargement was imposing an acceleration in infrastructure projects and better definition of transport priorities but that the initiative should not replace reforms at a national level (such as those foreseen in the Strategy of Lisbon). These proposal do not really appear to be acting as a "stimulus" to the current situation: the essential is to re-establish consumer and entrepreneur confidence and respect for the stability pact by highlighting research and innovation.
