Ten countries have still not informed Commission of application of directive protecting consumers if insurance companies go bust - Commission's reasoned opinions

Brussels, 20/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has decided to send reasoned opinions to ten Member States (United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Finland, Sweden and Greece) calling upon them rapidly to implement Directive 2001/17, which aims principally to guarantee consumer protection if an insurance company goes bankrupt.
