Infringement proceedings against Italy for poor application of directive on share trading

Brussels, 22/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Commission sent a reasoned opinion to Italy, requesting the country to comply with the provisions of the directive on the tax system applicable to share trading between companies established in different Member States. The Commission considers that the Italian tax administration is applying the directive in a too restrictive way. Italy has two month to respond to the Commission's demands.
