22/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is expected to decide on Wednesday to open a State aid inquiry regarding the system for compensating drivers, a system that Germany plans to set in place from 31 August at the same time as its new system for taxation of heavy goods vehicles (in the form of a reimbursement of the road tax and excise in particular). It fears the system of reimbursement is discriminatory for hauliers of other members States.
