Javier Solana seeks strengthened mandate for UN in Democratic Republic of Congo

Brussels, 16/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - Javier Solana, EU High Representative for CFSP, pleaded in favour of beefing up the mandate of the United Nations' peacekeeping force in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) last Tuesday, following a meeting in Kigali with Rwandan President Paul Kagamé, as part of his mission to Africa's Great Lakes region (EUROPE of 12 July, p.4).
