Commission approves granting of state aid to Merck BioFab biopharmaceutical lab in East Germany

Brussels, 28/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission authorised Germany to grant an aid of EUR 78 million to Merck KGaA for the construction in Jena, in Thüringen, of a new biopharmaceutical lab for the production of oncology products. After assessment of its compatibility with the 'Multisectoral Framework', the Commission concluded that this aid would allow for the creation of jobs, that its impact on competition is limited and that, either way, it respects the...
