Update of Member States' contributions to budget in 2003

Brussels, 28/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - Going on the proposal of Commissioner Michaele Schreyer, the European Commission on Tuesday, adopted an amending budget (No. 4/203) on the revenue side of the 2003 budget, which aims to update the changes in contributions by Member States. This stems mainly from the downward revision of economic forecasts and a recalculation of the UK rebate. Ms Schreyer, responsible for budget stated: "Our EU budget is in balance by definition.
