EUR 800,000 in emergency aid to Sri Lanka

Brussels, 23/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission decided to grant urgent humanitarian aid of EUR 800,000 to Sri Lanka, following recent flooding that devastated the south of the country. The aid will be taken from the ECHO budget (the Community humanitarian aid office). This amount is mainly aimed at operations for the supply of drinking water and sanitation.
