23/05/2003 (Agence Europe) -Paul Collowald, who was in particular spokesman for the then vice-president of the European Commission Robert Marjolin and Director General for information in the European Parliament, was among the people who received the gold medal of the Foundation of European Merit from Jacques Santer on May 23, in Luxembourg (chaired by André Heiderscheid). On this occasion, Mr.Collowald in a summary of his European experience, recalled in particular his first meeting with Robert Schuman on August 12, 1949 (and Schuman's concern for results of elections in Germany, two days later), the speech on November 5, 1959 in Luxembourg by Jean Monnet to the general meeting of the free trade unions of the European Community (a speech insisting on the "training of men", education, youth), the 50th anniversary of European schools, and the 50th anniversary of Agence Europe, for whom he had been the first correspondent in Strasbourg at the beginning of the fifties...
